![]() A nice extra, if you've got the hardware for it. The mod also comes with an optional ultra-high graphical configuration mode, pushing the game to its visual limits. You'll likely get more mileage out of this mod if you've got a 1440p or 4k monitor, but it's a more dramatic change than you might expect, especially when the camera gets wedged up near rocks or bricks. Just run the numbered Part 1, 2 and 3 installers in turn and point them to your Witcher 3 directory. As with similar texture mods, it perhaps goes a bit far on roughening up rocks, but mostly does a good job.įor all it size and scope, this is a doddle to set up. There is some small performance cost and it's a hefty five gigabyte download (and multi-part install) but otherwise easy to set up and even easier on the eyes. While probably a bit overkill, the Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project by "Halk Hogan" cleans up just about every low-res texture or rough 3D model in the game. Still, there's always room for improvement. The Witcher 3 is still gorgeous - even more so if you've got high-end hardware. Here's a few choice mods to tempt you to download far too much all at once. How much you'll need the guide depends on just how ambitious you're feeling. ![]() If you plan on getting at all fancy with the mod manager, you'll also want "AnotherSymbiote"'s Script Merger tool, which (mostly) automatically smashes files together to resolve conflicts.įor more detail on all of this, I recommend at least skimming through Wasteland Ghost's Witcher 3 Modding Guide. While it's tempting to use Vortex (official multi-game manager of Nexus Mods where most Witcher 3 stuff lives), its support is a patchy and can cause more trouble than it fixes. Note that this patch needs to be manually installed, as mod managers mishandle it.īeyond patches, what you'll need for most of the mods featured below is the Witcher 3 Mod Manager by "stefan3372 and SullivanMcBlueberry". Older mods (pre-GOTY edition) often have compatibility issues, and even later mods can kick up a fuss unless you have the Community Patch, which makes all editions of the game (assuming you own the DLC) equal. Users also need to be careful when combining mods for your next playthrough, lest the game spit out a wall of script conflict errors and fail to load. Modding The Witcher 3: harder than you'd thinkĭespite CD Projekt Red putting out an official tools, modders have found themselves limited in what they can easily do. This week on Modder Superior, we've got quality of life tweaks, re-textures, re-balancing and a Cavill-cade of faces fresh from TV. Still, there's always room to tweak, tune and expand. Beyond a round of free DLC and two excellent expansions, Geralt Of Rivia's grand quest to become a cool step-dad and maybe settle down at a vineyard in the south of fantasy France remains largely timeless. Every other Monday, Dominic gives you a reason to dust off one of your old games and dive into its mods with Modder Superior.Īlmost five years and a surprisingly good TV series later, and The Witcher 3 is still going strong a surprising turn of events given how static the game has remained these past few years.

Like many clip show episodes before and since, “Remembrances” has the lowest rating of any Avatar: The Legend of Korra episode on IMDb. Konietzko wrapped up the Tumblr post by writing, “What started out as a reluctant chore ended up being a really fun episode to make, and in the end I truly love it." But even though Avatar had this flashback-type episode, it was different from a traditional clip show in that it contained all-new animation. In Avatar season 3, episode 17, “The Ember Island Players,” Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph see themselves portrayed on stage by actors in one of the final light-hearted episodes of the series. As Konietzko also points out, Avatar: The Last Airbender had an episode that served a similar function. The episode also provides a bit of closure for Korra, which was leading up to its finale. The result is an episode that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is better off for it. “Remembrances” overlays chibi versions of the characters' faces on top of the old clips, providing commentary and comedy throughout the episode. “We weren’t going to do that to our crew, and even if we were callous enough to do so, we never would have been able to finish the season without them.” Konietzko went on to say that he was inspired by one of his favorite anime series, Samurai Champloo, to create an episode that did more than just rehash old footage. “We never considered the first option,” Konietzko wrote. As Bryan Konietzko explained in a Tumblr post shortly before the “clip show” episode of Korra debuted, the showrunners were faced with a tough decision after they learned of the budget cuts: fire some of the crew before the show wrapped up production or make a clip show. The creators of Korra, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante Dimartino, were forced into making the clip show episode after Nickelodeon slashed the budget for season 4. Related: Why Avatar Changed Katara's Original Name (Only To Use It In Korra) The creators worked to create an episode that made the best of the situation and, for the most part, they succeeded. As far as clip shows go, the episode could have been a lot worse. Finally, Varrick, always one for theatrics, steals the show with an absurd, imaginary rendition of flashbacks that feature Bolin/Nuktuk as the hero, fighting off Zaheer, “flying chaotic chaos machine,” and Vaatu, “the biggest, meanest, scariest kite that ever flew,” who team up via phone call where they conference in Unalaq and Amon. Then, a hopeless Korra recounts all of her failures while Tenzin and Asami restore hope by reminding Korra of her triumphs. The show becomes hilariously self-aware when Prince Wu and Mako’s cousin, Tu, make some astute observations on Mako’s love life. The episode itself, “Remembrances,” is divided into roughly three segments. Other times, it’s purely budgetary - which was the unfortunate case for Korra. Sometimes a clip show is used as a sort of victory lap that capitalizes on the nostalgia built over the course of many seasons, like Friends, Frasier, Seinfeld, or Cheers. The term refers to an episode comprised of old footage, awkwardly spliced together and re-packaged in the form of flashbacks and montages. The oft-maligned “clip show” format is familiar to any viewer of sitcoms or anime. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Legend of Korra season 4, episode 8, “Remembrances,” reflects on the previous seasons of the show through the eyes of Mako, Bolin, Korra, Asami, Tenzin, and Varrick – and it’s a clip show.
